Where to get brembo master cylinder parts?
I've decided to finally replace all the bits I ground up in my last crash... It all works but it looks rotten. So, I need the adjuster thumbwheel thing (easy to find) but also the central stem that the thumbwheel attaches to, and seals if need be, not so easy to find. PDQ don't seem to have 'em, any other suggestions?

Morning Northwind.
I don't think that Brembo do the seals separately, but have you looked into the cost of a new one? As a lot of Brembo gear is not as expensive as you might first think. My neighbour who spanners Ducatis can & does get a lot of Brembo stuff. If you let me know what you want I'll see how much I can get it for. You might be surprised! Cheers. |
Re: Where to get brembo master cylinder parts?
Nah, this one's exactly as expensive as I think :smt092 I got it cheap off of Crescent, but a new one would be £350. But it's really nice...
It doesn't actually need the seals, just the adjuster shaft and thumbscrew, but I figure it's good practice with brakes to replace consumable parts as I disturb them. I can get a repair kit from yoyodyne in the states for about $40, just looking for a local supplier but they seem to have dried out, just like the rebuild kits. Annoying company, Brembo  |
Re: Where to get brembo master cylinder parts?
Afternoon.
Interesting! The most expensive Brembo racing master cylinder listed £170+VAT Retail. I wonder which one you've got then! Either that or you were had:D:D Cheers. |
Re: Where to get brembo master cylinder parts?
Nah, that's just the cast ones... This one's one of the XRs, machined from solid instead of cast with some internal differences. You can spend $2650 and get a moto gp spec brembo if you know the right dealers. (this isn't one of those of course)
Course, from my point of view it's no better than the cast ones, but then it was as new and I paid less than the cast ones cost and it came with a spare lever so, can't complain  The ad was all "ex BSB bike" etc, I think that must have put people off, thinking it wouldn't work for the road or something. The disposable parts are the same as the 19x18 cast ones though, so the crash kits and levers are a straight drop-in. Possibly my best buy ever ;) It's the stylish juxtaposition of exotic ex-BSB race parts and 5-year old Oxford Hotgrips that make it :) http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i2...r/IMG_0056.jpg |
Re: Where to get brembo master cylinder parts?
that does look very trick/nice and i'm in the market for a shiny piece of bling like that for my tarts handbag but i'm struggling to justify the £200 price tag for a master cylinder.
what reservoir set up are you using on that? |
Re: Where to get brembo master cylinder parts?
Just the standard one, till recently, and now a wee Brembo clutch pot held on with a bit of bendy plastic and a cable tie  Counter-bling, as it were.
It's very nice... But yep, hard to justify. At the price I paid, not so hard to justify but even then it's not so much better than the R6 one it replaced. As for bling, you've got pazzos on your alien don't you? It doesn't get any more senselessly blingy than that ;) (I can say that, I broke mine) |
Re: Where to get brembo master cylinder parts?
yer i have a pazzo lever on my gsxr radial master cylinder but i dont like them very much and think the brembo better suits my poser image.
what ratio is your lever i've heard 19x18 is better for the road and the 19x20 is the track type? |
Re: Where to get brembo master cylinder parts?
Just personal taste that, I think... This is a 19x18, which suits me- I also liked the R6 one, which I think was 16x18. I reckon the high ratio or bigbore ones would be too short action for me, I like the long throw of the smaller ones. Lots of travel, but it's all doing something...
They do come up on Ebay for sensible prices sometimes, but you've got to watch out for the OE spec ones, they're not the same- nothing wrong with them but I wouldn't pay top price for them, and people do sometimes. I was looking at the Braking master cylinders with the integral reservoir, at Trojan Horse, very neat those. No idea how they perform though. |
