Nails in tyres
Hi everyone,
Just found a nail in my rear tyre which must have been there since I last rode last week (felt a bit spongy on the way back from a fairly long ride). Has anyone else found that nails are an increasing problem? I personally think that skip lorries and people going to the dump drop them and the council don't do enough to clean them up. Any thoughts? |
Re: Nails in tyres
I had a nail in my rear too! My tyre that is! Was a good excuse to move on to my supercorsas!:D

Re: Nails in tyres
Riding in London everyday it's a rare set of tyres that don't pick up shrapnel (That said I get good mileage to tyres). Just get it repaired properly.

Yes it is an increasing problem but I'm not sure why either! I do have a theory (no not a conspiracy theory you lot ), that the roads being swept "more often" may be to blame! The road sweepers, around here anyway, don't pick up the road side debri but instead brush it from the gutter and spread it all over the road! Is this the way its supposed to be done? If so its stupid! So if the local council stop sweeping the roads things might improve!! :) They just won't spend council tax on keeping the roads properly clean but the mayor gets a brand new Jaguar limo'! I hope he gets a bleedin puncture! |
Re: Nails in tyres
I reckon it's down to tyre dealers spreading a few nails (and drill bits in my case) around to drum up business

Re: Nails in tyres
.... nice thought but they would puncture their own tyres and the extra trade would be a bit erratic.
