First Run in 4 weeks!!

Just been for my first run after leave and holiday about 4 weeks in total.

My god it hurt.:smt088

Made the mistake of trying the same pace and the same route.

It’s mad how quickly your fitness can come down again.

I saw your age on another thread so you have no excuse!! Me being er just a bit older, I haven't run for nearly 3 weeks - sore left hip flexor mainly, but I'm running tonight and I know it will be a struggle. I'm doing a marathon on 28 October and I desperately need to ramp up the miles again, should really do 20 at the weekend.

Wondering if anyone has a Garmin 201 or 301 - are they worth the shekels?

I know, it probably was not as slow as i thought, but it felt harder. a good few weeks off and a week at an AI hotel in Corfu has not helped.
You just know in yourself its not as flowing or relaxed if you know what i mean.

I have a garmin 305 and I won't go for a run without it now. When I got it I though it would be a 5 minute wonder.

You can download training schedules for it, which for a novice like me is excellent.

Sweatshop are currently knocking the Garmin 205 out a bit cheaper than usual.

Add the Garmin and the Asics Kayano's together and you soon find out that running is not a cheap hobby, which to me was a suprise.

I actually managed to get a pair of trainers changed due to it as they had started to fall apart and I had an acurate record of the mileage due to the Garmin, so got them replaced without too much trouble.

Blimey you use Kayanos!! I'm a cheapskate and refuse to pay over £100. Now use Mizuno Wave something or others. TVM for views on Garmin, they're cheep on Amazon so I might take the plunge.

Re: First Run in 4 weeks!!

Yeah I have only been running since December and am now on my 2nd (actually 3rd, as one pair was replaced).

I don't reckon I would still be running without them as I am a moderate over-pronator.

I am going to try and get some cheaper ones which do the job if I can find some that are suitable for hauling my fat-ass around.

I honestly thought that running would be cheap, mind you I thought that about motorbikes too - how wrong could I be!!!!
