CT scan this afternoon - hug needed

I'm a teensy bit claustrophobic so a tad nervous :(

Anyone had one? They sent a little leaflet with the appointment, stuff about don't wear metal jewelery - umm, are tooth fillings magnetic? What about buttons on me flys? Or will I have to strip off (in which case I'm digging out the calvin kleins - you never know!). It's apparently three years worth of background radiation, add that to the two x-rays I've already had in the last couple of months and I'm gonna start glowing in the dark :(

MiniMatt - I had an MRI scan last year and also suffer a bit in enclosed spaces. I think they are basically the same enclosure.

I managed to stare at the ceiling with my head tilted slightly back which made me feel much better and also they palyed music through some headphones, which sort of made me fell seperated from what was going on and helped massively.

I wore tracksuits bottom and that was fine, although I too had a clean pair of Calvins on.

They also allowed me to go in backwards as it was my back that was being scanned, so I went in feet first, which also helped.

You'll be fine.

You'll have to strip off and put on a hospital gown....and very sexy they are too! It depends on what you're having scanned, if it's lower limbs your head probably won't even go inside the tube (mine didn't). Chill, it's not that bad :D

It's me noggin being scanned, you never know, they may find it's empty in there. I'll do my best to make a hospital gown look good :D

Thanks for the hugs :D

I only had my knee scanned (think it was MRI) but they made me strip down and put a gown on.......maybe the nurses had a thing for me ;)

Actually thinking back I did have to wear a gown, but I was under the impression that tracksuit bottoms would be fine...........perhaps they should've scanned my noggin for signs of anything.

They did say something about tattoo's could get hot.........or similar.

I had an MRI scan. Had to remove everything (including bits of metal) and wear one of those hospital gowns. The scan itself was very relaxing and they were playing classic rock inside the scanner, including Hawkwind! I guess that they looked at me, thought 'bloody long-haired hippy' and decided that's what I'd enjoy.
