Yeah, thats perfectly fine to do. *assuming the track doesnt require a full A liecence to be able to ride on a track.

Swapping ECUs should take a maximum of 3 minutes (blindfolded)

just try it at home first before you go (swap, start engine & swap back) so you know you can do it & it works.

Dont be mistaken in to thinking that track days mean racing and being as fast as you can be. There is a lot more to be gained from the experience than that. I would leave the restriction as it is.

When i was looking at track days it very specifically stated that you had to have a full A licence and that a restricted licence was not acceptable. It would be a good idea to check if that is the case with you as it might mean that you ride all the way to the day and then arnt allowed to ride which would suck.

I'm with you on that train of thought.

(Assuming you've not been riding for years already....)
You'll be a nervous wreck on track on a bike with 2x the usual power. The chances of it ending ugly are pretty high. Get to grips with your restricted bike in the safety of the track. It'll still be great fun. Guarunteed! :D

True, you will be able to get to grips with what you have, plus it will be so dissapointing having to put it back to restricted! Believe me ive done it when we had a quarter mile event at my previous RAF base. They were the longest 4 months of my life.

I've considered trackdays but been put off by the restriction. I think i'm gonna try wait until my restriction runs out and then look into it.

which sucks because you learn how to control a bike so much better on a track than you do on a road from what i've heard. Makes no sense.

The sense in it is that you learn your bikes capabilities in the best conditions, ie. Tarmac, decent run off situations. If you were to go down a country road and brake a little late you will find that you will enter a field or something worse maybe. On a track you have the run off. The use for the track and the way you learn is to put yourself in situations where you have braked too late, not to panic but to keep your mind mind and body controlled. Do this on the road and you may panic and run into a fence etc. Leaning capabilities, ie gauging how far you can lean at a certain speed, you cant go to your capabilities on the road as surfaces may be different and not offer as much grip etc.

May be talking cobswollock but i think i'm right lol

HTH

PS. I would encourage a trackday as a restricted rider, learning the same possibilities as above just a bit slower. I never have done on either of my bikes but, i run my old bike into its limits as the tyres evidently show this :)

I fancy doing one, but I'm skint, looks great fun.

Are there any 33bhp trackdays?
