Best To Remove Tank |
Re: how to drain the tank?
There is a screw which kind of goes in the bottom of each carb at an agle, a bit tricky to get at first time as you've got to take the tank off and air box which is all a bit fiddly to get at. It is a bit easier to identify if you've got a haynes manual.
If you're going to be doing this and taking the tank off you'll be able to drain the tank by turning it upside down :) Make sure you reattach everything correctly. When I had a faulty coil connection (which I misdiagnoserd as water in the fuel) I managed to leave a fuel line off somewhere, pouring petrol everywhere when I tried starting it, not that you'd do the same obviously. Good luck and a manual may make things a little easier. |
Re: how to drain the tank?
You again!
If you don't have a good syphon it's best to remove the tank & turn it upside down. You wont remove all the fluid in there, but you should be able to mop out the excess with a handful of rags & a long thingy (MATRON). The drain screws are a sod to access, especially on the front carburettor. You will need a long 5mm ball ended allen key, & a small torch to see it with. You can just see the screw from above & from the right, you access it through one of the joining brackets between the carbs. Sometimes there is a small pipe clamp in the way, which has to be carefully rotated to see the screw head. Cheers |
Re: how to drain the tank?
syringe, apply vac to tank valve and then the fuel will flow out.
