Army spyplane advert-X-box controller????
Is the spy plane operator in the latest Army advert using an X-box controller to fly it and if so is it some sort of joke?

Re: Army spyplane advert-X-box controller????
I saw that and asked someone in the forces that exact question.
Apparently they do use them :) Only for the little remote control ones though...not the proper UAV's. |

just doing what we all do on exersise or tour,
geting some game time in!! |
Re: Army spyplane advert-X-box controller????
it makes sense to use something which has had loads of development gone into a product instead of trying to create one for just an exercise. its perfect for such activities, but of corse its not suitable for the field in the conditions which it will be used in. needs to be made from metal!!!

At the end of the day the 360 controllers are pretty sturdy and if it were to break, are cheap to replace. As for saying it should be metal, that doesn't seem that great an idea. Most of the military operations take place in extremes of temperature, its hot in Afghanistan/Iraq! Heat and electrics dont really mix, as well as being uncomfortable to handle. When i was in the middle east i had to wear a strap under my metal watch, as it got so hot. |
