Repair estimate & insurance...your thoughts!!

Hello!! Just wondered what peoples' thoughts were on this??

Had a call from the Yamaha dealer to say that accident repairs to my ybr-125 were estimated at 1695 pounds...they thought it would be a write off as the bikes are only 1999 rrp and are actually on sale for 1799 at the moment.

Anyway, the insurance company has decided to have the bike repaired, it's going to need almost the entire front end replaced as well as a new tank and plastics and a new silencer amongst other things. Basically the frame and engine appear to be ok!!

Why would the insurer decide to repair the bike? It was only 8 weeks old when I had the accident...would age have influenced the decision?

Ta. Lou :D

lol maybe! Who knows?! I wouldn't want a new one...couldn't cope with the 45 mph limit for 600 miles running it in!! I think I'll aim for getting my test done on a bigger bike so that I can get out on the SV :D

I was getting out on it a fair bit...even tho I had to ride everywhere ringing it's neck and still never getting past 65 mph :D it was still fun and I miss it...will be a while before my shoulder's better tho so I'm gonna have to be patient

I hurt my right knee and shoulder...the joint between my collarbone and shoulder blade have come apart so I can't move my arm properly and it looks fairly bizarre too!! Apart from that just bumps and bruises...back at work for the first time today after 3 weeks off :(

I don't think Lincoln's more than about 2 hours max from Thetford...not 100% sure tho!

I just end up going out on my own a lot of the time...it's usually a last minute decision, I'm usually on the back of my mates bikes if I go out with them as they don't like bimbling along at 60 :D

Yeah I guess, but then the biggest difference between a learner and a "big" bike is the speed they get there! Injuries sound nasty. What happened did you crash into a tank or something? Pleased to hear it hasnt put u off riding.
