Question for HGV licence holders
If you pass an HGV test is there any minimum annual milelage or once you have one is it just a case of passing medicals to keep them going? I need to put a tech through an HGV course and the driving will be occasional, or maybe never in any 12 month period. Don't ask, its peculier!

Re: Question for HGV licence holders
Your guy will have to take a hgv class 2 test before he will be eleigble to take a class 1 ( artic ) he will probably need a medical before his test and once passed a medical every 5 yrs from the age of 45

Re: Question for HGV licence holders
Also might be easier to hire an agency driver , certainly be cheaper than putting someone through his test, be warned though you can earn decent money with the right firm, a lot of guys get there licences with one firm and then clear off to work for another, at the risk of being nosry what are you transporting ? if its chemicals he will need further licenses on top

Re: Question for HGV licence holders
No, its a mobile biomedical lab, without chemicals in it. We have been using agencies, but a lot of the movements are really local and short distances so its a pain. The guy we want to put through has a good job so he should be ok.
