Problems in the cold
Just recently, since the cold set in, my poor little 1999 sv650s is having running problems, first thing in the morning I need to keep the throttle open (even with the choke out) to keep it running. It took 25 minutes this morning before it would hold an idle when stationary. The rest of the time it just dies. This is only happening in the morning after a cold cold night.
Any thoughts or suggestions? thanks. |
Re: Problems in the cold
Sound like the age old problem of carb icing, your carb heaters might have packed up. Or failing that you can try using a bit of shell super unleaded as I have found this helps.
The other option is try some Silkolene Pro FST as its designed to combat carb icing. Have a search on the forum too as I'm sure you'll find loads about it. |

or an easy one: idling speed. Loads o threads on here about altering it.
Try 1500 rpm. Little black screw LHS just in front of hte petrol tank. Summer I normally idle at around 1100, winter around 1500.... |
