New boy...bad day

Just thought I'd say hi as I'm a proud new SV owner.

Well, was proud....

First day out I binned it with big help from a rabbit darting out in front of an oncoming truck. Ran it up the verge and almost came through it alright but found a drainage ditch rather sharpish.

Screwed forks and bits and a few scratches. I walked away fortunately but now have to repair the bike.

Rubbish.

Unlucky.

Are you fully comp? Don't worry if you're not....the premium hike would be a killer anyway.

At the end of the day it least you are not hurt.

In the future better to run the rabbit over. :)

Fully comp but wondering if I can get it ridable again without paying the excess amount. Checked my premium for next year with a fake quote and it doesn't seem to have risen that much, which is nice.

Deciding whether to get it 'ridable' on the cheap or pay the excess, get a shiny bike and pay through the nose for it.

kinda remnds me of the Clarkson quote, "It's so comfortable you can run over anything up to a medium-sized fox and not even notice"

Make sure they're not just twisted first, SV forks and yokes are fairly bendy so they can twist a long way without permanent damage... Or sometimes, what looks like bent forks (expensive) is actually bent yokes (less expensive)

Hope it works out anyway. Did you actually hit the jackelope or did you try to dodge it?

Dodge.

Inexperience made me twitch and I straightened up a couple of metres before I should've done and trying to steer clear of the large oncoming lorry I was already towards the verge.

All these things I have read I shouldn't do but hey....no better way of learning than cocking up.

Plus, it would have made a tasty stew.

In future, hit it.

Dizzyblonde got a fair sized roe deer with hers with no damage...

Unless you're some veggie type :p
