A701 (Devil's Beeftub) Sunday 28th Oct '07
This road was part of the motivation behind finally getting my ass into gear to get my Bike License.
As the guy I was out with put it, 'one of the finest strips of tarmac ever laid' Can't disagree!! :smt045 :smt045 :smt045 http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/e...g?t=1193735165 |

:p Cheeky Git :p
The road between Dumfries & Moffat was absolutely pasted with Cow Shat, hence the less than gleaming finish! Ahem, not that I've had a chance to clean it properly since mind you but that's another point!! |

Re: A701 (Devil's Beeftub) Sunday 28th Oct '07
My understanding was that the cattle herders used to take the cattle into the Glen for shelter when the weather came down heavy and due to the number of cattle "filling" the glen, hence the Devils Beef Tub......
.....but that doesn't mean I'm right. Garry;) |

Skyward's right - it was used to store stolen cattle back in the day...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil's_Beef_Tub More importantly, all being well I'll be back up there tomorrow morning!! Got to get these runs in whilst the weather holds up! |
