MOT Pass, but Advisory note.

Basically it flew threw, which I fully expected. However they did give me an advisory note saying:

Rear Brake Disc Slightly Worn.

So, should I now panic about this and get it done immediately?

If so how much am I looking at to have anew one fitted (roughly)?

Very lightly although tend to use it more when the weather gets bad (See I was listening on my DAS course).

It breaks fine, but as I commute everyday might be advisable to get done eh?

How much?

There's always something just as I get myself a bit straight. Just paid insurance and for the test, now this.

What it means is that i's getting close to the lower thickness limit. Look on this the same way you would for brake pads, it's not going to suddenly shear and kill you, but next time you're doing the pads I'd throw another disc in. ebay and breakers are your friends as nearly new discs for the rear, often go for peanuts.

Good point, but I would never knowingly sell someone something that needed work, as it is horrible to buy something then need to spend more out on it. Honest guv!

Plus I've had such great fun on the bike this week driving it to work, just before midday, that I'm once more starting to reconsider getting something else, I have never driven anything that makes me smile so much.

Mine is in such good shape and paid for, if I bought something else I would be paying £130 a month out plus the extra insurance and the fact that I would be so worried about it being nicked I would never sleep..............arghhhh!

Very sensible.Keep it.
As for the rear brake I wouldnt worry at all either. It still works and I bet it will continue to work very well for years.

svspares.com do a rear disc which is "checked for straightness and is within wear limits" for £35, although how much further from the wear limit than yours it would be I do not know. Pattern discs also there for £60.

I'd say the answer's in the question. Relax and save your pennies for a while and keep an eye on it.

Don't they have to do serious miles for the disc to wear?
