Are Huggers worthwhile???
 

Hello to the informed Massive !!!!

Just a very quick question that i am hoping may provoke some balanced arguments :-)

Is it worth getting a Hugger??????????????:confused:

i am sure that they are good at keeping spray from and c**p away from the Sub-frame and the various bits around it - however i can't see that they are actually going to do anything more than that!!!!

For example - if its raining - you're going to get wet anyway and the spray is going to go up and back so it wont stop you from getting wet, additionally if its that wet - "will i be riding anyway???" Probably not....

I'm sure that there are two sides to this - just wanted to hear what others have found or thought or concluded

I always fit one to my bikes. Bit of a no brainer for me.

It just helps keep the crap off, which makes cleaning easier and helps to maintain the finish on the bike. IMO they should be fitted by the manufacturer.

I also fit a fenda extenda to, for the same reason.

Been a bit lax with the Viffer, not fitted them yet, but they will be soon.

Bloody hope so I just sprayed mine to match the bike...only done it 5 times so far, not happy with the finish!!

ive owned sv's with and without huggers and TBH i dont think they do much at all, all the water and muck just gets thrown over the top of the hugger infact ive just sold my carbon hugger on ebay.

Got one on order myself.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that if you fit a tail tidy, you lose a lot of the underside protection that the shovel gives, so hopefully a hugger will stop the crap from flying up.

Dont quote me on that though lol

the shovel does do a great job but looks pants it has to go even if water does get thrown up over the tail :)

I think they are, but only if you like the looks. They IMHO definatly help to keep dirt off of the rear shock and it makes cleaning easier.

On Liz's Duke it keeps the muck off the shock and the back of the engine, which is exposed to stone chips etc so it does make a difference I think.
