Hello all, been here a while but met no-one so far
(only had the bike a week.....)

I've just posted this:

Can anyone help out, or is this something I need my dealer for?

Please and thankyou :)

Thanks

If you lived in the Thames Valley, you would of been inundated with offers by now!

Sadly few sections match our high standards. :p;)

I'm not mechanically minded but others have fitted scottoilers themselves.

They're incredibly busy these days, but come to the next meet and introduce yourself. They're usually there at the meets and you'll get some advice on scottoilers from them.

Don't worry if there are no bikes in the car park, it's an usual GM meet feature.

I have one on my K6 so if you have no luck in your area let me know and we can meet up so you can see first hand how it goes. Do not pay somebody to fit it for you. It really is easy to fit yourself.

Hey welcome to the guildford section of the forum and good choice on bike ;)

Scottoiler is fairly easy, I'm a bit busy at the moment, but the scottoiler site should have some pictures of how they installed it on the SV.

If you've not fitted it in a couple of weeks give us a shout.

Hope to see you at a meet!

Thankee all very much.

Not even got round to buying the unit yet, but I want it on and working in less than a fortnight (its good to have targets). I've done 200 miles and need to lube the chain ASAP methinks.....

I've read ALL (believe me) of the instructions on the Scottoiler website and at the moment I'm fairly sure I'll have a bit of trouble fitting it, mainly because I used google the other day to look up "swingarm" (we've all been learners once...I hope)

(I've not got a paddock stand either, so I'm sure that wont help me out any either with this one.)

Thanks again everyone, specifically:

ASM-Forever - I'm almost into the Thames Valley area. on the Google map I've seen of the areas I'm nearly in the red stripe in the middle (though I work in Godalming). Would it be rude to attend both meets? :D

Law - I'd like to come to the next GM meet (if I'm free), why is it mainly car based dare I ask?!

Furry Ginger One - West Drayton is doable for me. I need to rack up a few more miles locally anyway until I get the 600 mile service done. Let me know if the offer still holds?

Falc - same applies, and thanks for the offer. I'll update this thread when I've got the unit.

My main question at the moment is where on the bike the reservoir bottle goes? Is it under the back seat?

Indeed we've all been learners once and if you don't ask then you don't find things out!

Once you've got a scottoiler post up and i'm sure either falc or myself can help you fit it. Tere are probably a few places you could put the reservoir but under the seat would be ok.

As for why the GM meets are normally car based is cos we're mainly a bunch of fair weather riders ;) although we do occasionally turn up on bikes (if it's not too cold or raining lol)
