Fuel tank
If I take the fuel tank off, how do I stop the fuel coming out. My old bike had a tap, can't seem to find one on my SV, and the Haynes manual isn't making it any clearer

Re: Fuel tank
on the pointy the fuel pump stops it from coming out, just pull the pipe off and block it with ya finga.:)

Re: Fuel tank
When I took the tank off me kwak recently no fuel leaked out at all I think cos of the vacuum effect of having the fuel cap closed.

Re: Fuel tank
Yes, we've had the tank off our curvy a couple of times, and nothing leaked. Think as Kwak says, the fuel pump stops it.

Re: Fuel tank
cool thank you

Re: Fuel tank
That'll make it lighter then

Re: Fuel tank
Its not the filler cap seal its because the curvy has a vaccuum fuel tap i.e. you need a vaccuum on one of the connections to open the tap and let the fuel out.

Re: Fuel tank
Yep John.
Thats how i understood it to work too. You might get a dribble off the pipe remnants but that should be all. |
Re: Fuel tank
The vacuum operated fuel tap has stuck, there should be a dribble of fuel and then nothing.
Try blow down the vacuum pipe that can sometimes close a troublesome one, that or give the tap a sharp tap with the side of a spanner. |
