Doctor has signed me off for 2 more weeks
Thought I'd be back to work today, but after about an hour working on the bike on Saturday I couldn't walk 'til Sunday so thought I'd best see the doc. She's sent me for an x-ray this afternoon, said I might an orthopedic appointment and signed me off for another 2 weeks. I'm hoping it won't be that long, and I'm waiting for a call back from my boss about what his thoughts are on the matter (I'm hoping they aren't "Goodbye").
I've used up all my sick leave, and all my holiday pay so it's gonna be 2 weeks (maybe less, maybe more) on SSP, or about £90 per week. I'm getting thoroughly annoyed with being a cripple now. If anyone's in the Harrow area in the next week or so, I'd really appreciate some company that doesn't try to find a way to steer the conversation round to "maybe it's time to find a different mode of transport" at any opportunity. (I promise to be more chipper than the tone of this post, I just need to exorcise the demon of self pity!) Ok, I'm gonna stop feeling sorry for myself now and get back to watching crappy daytime TV while lying on the couch getting fat. Poo. |

Bloody light weight ;)
Sorry to here this although I kind of had the feeling it wasn't going to be a cake walk, I'll see if I feel brave enough to confront the local suicide drivers again at some point. Cheers Mark. |

Re: Doctor has signed me off for 2 more weeks
They won't sack me for being signed off, but I know in the past they have "let people go" for other reasons while they've not been in work due to sickness for a while. So far it's always been people who haven't been there as long as me, so I'm hoping for the best...

Re: Doctor has signed me off for 2 more weeks
yeh job security in this country is non existant in some industries.
When i used to sell property it was the same way Jai, if i had to have time off for sickness they would never say they were letting you go for that as its illegal to do that. What they would do tho is use that/next months figures to justify why they were letting you go. And you couuld say till you're blue in the face that you were off for 3 of those weeks but they would just shrug their shoulders and say "yeh but you didnt hit your targets" |
Re: Doctor has signed me off for 2 more weeks
Depends on how long he's been employed for, and watch out for the boss saying things like "come in anyway". Because as you've been signed off your not covered by the Health and Safety stuff. I know as my boss tried that once until I corrected him, and he was like oh really, didn't realise.

Re: Doctor has signed me off for 2 more weeks
Bummer dude.
 Not coming to visit you, but do feel for you. Be careful of the advice your given. I had chronic back pain a number of years ago. Doctor made me a hospital appointment. I was then put on an intensive course of physio. After a couple of months of even worse pain, I went private. Had a scan and found I had a crushed disk. The physio I was given was just making things worse. Just trying to say the doc's/hospitals are not always right. Best of luck with it. |

fingers crossed re that call from your boss, though i can't believe they'll even consider getting rid of lovely you - i mean who else would be able to reach the stuff kept up on high shelves, etc? ;-) |
