Re: New GSX-8S announced

Well at least it hasn't got one of those mudguard hung off the back of the swing-arm arrangements! (I've yet to see one of those that looks half-decent on any bike IMHO!)

It's not...

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?

Presumably today's news raised a smile for Gary, given his recent post in GOTD (http://forums.sv650.org/showpost.php?p=3138496&postcount=10827)? The thought of that made me smile anyway - cheers! :)...

Re: Hello again......

Well I recognised it instantly - see my sig! :D

Looks quite good in that pic, actually. I like the concept.

(Ironically, as part of my project musings, I've been considering an SV front end...

Re: Yamaha conundrum

Hmm, not straightforward - a victory of fashion over function it seems  (The old naked SV has circular captive rubber grommets on a more rudimentary bent steel frame that similarly fits...

Re: 2019 onwards AL9 front pads?

Agreed, I also wonder if the four pots would be any better in the real world or is it mainly marketing spin?

Re: Yamaha conundrum

I presume the bottom o-ring will take care of itself due to the relative direction of fitting of the stanchions and the 'ears', with only the top one is troublesome?

So, perhaps best to take off...

Re: Rain, thunder and lightning.

Delete a few of the intevening posts and no-one would ever know there was a typo mistake in the first place.;)

I just love the banter that crops up here. It's almost as if we're all still allowed...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Yes, disappointingly my general bin gets a bit more bagged waste than I'd like from time to time because doing the best thing has been made nigh-on impossible in practice.

Yes, and I find it...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Yes, Lount. Tidy enough site but like all of them nowadays only delivering a partial service.

Yes, I normally have them in a cardboard box or something but this time I had other stuff so...

Re: other forums

Only very occasionally. Sometimes it's useful for general awareness topics that can be transferrable to any bike.

What I find more sad is the general de-camp to Facebook and the like, which tbh I...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

GOTD - inconsistent, incoherent and illogical policies at local authority tips (aka recycling centres nowadays).

So having done a bit of a clearout, today I took along various things for...

Re: Autopilot

Good. This is consistent with my understanding from other areas of work: When it comes to health and safety, we generally have a modus operandi in the UK of having to try to protect the public...

Re: Autopilot

I agree completely but the principal problem is that introduction of the terms "Full Self Driving" and "Autopilot" both reasonably conjour up an expectation that the human doesn't need to be doing...

Re: The random rideout pictures thread

Even with the power of Google, it sometimes helps to have a bit of specialist insight and background into what you're looking for. I didn't find it first search either! :)

Lovely part of the...

Re: The random rideout pictures thread

This is right up my street too, so there's at least one appreciative viewer! ;) (I spent 15 years in the Electricity Supply Industry dealing with this sort of stuff, though I moved on to work...

Re: Tyres for 1999 SV650 for first time rider

Tyre choice is always an 'opinionated' matter.

IMHO there's some usual info in this very recent vid (only 7 mins - not an exhaustive test but it covers some decent general theory. He's Canadian...

Re: OMO - electrical advice

From what you've described, this would be my expectation too. Not the best practice in the world, but not necessarily dangerous. As you say, a full electric cooker will be too much for a 13A plug ...

Re: At last....

Indeed, it's illogical.

I managed to get trapped with some credit card debts that I'm steadily and reliably paying off (only slowly though, thanks to high interest rates). But apparently I can't...

I'm right there with you on that too. Our search was far, far harder due to wanting to be honest about our cats and dog - anyone would think we were proposing to bring the spawn of satan into the...
