Re: Vintage film cameras

Well, I got 29.69 for a fully working SRT101 body. Definitely unfashionable.
It looks like I might be back working in Leeds again after Christmas. The downside is the commuting but on the upside, 3...

Re: Vintage film cameras

No, it's yours. I think it was a swop for something.
Put it on ebay to fund something else or pass it on to Johnny if he wants to try out a Minolta.

Re: Vintage film cameras

I'm still pondering the future of my K1000 too. I don't get the popularity. Some of them sell for 3 figures but equally good Minolta SRTs are selling for 30-40.

Re: New GSX-8S announced

Re: Vintage film cameras

I managed to fix the Minolta. Removed the slow speed mechanism, cleaned it all out and put a tiny bit of oil on the cogs. All the sub 1/30th shutter speeds are working fine now. The biggest faff was...

Re: Vintage film cameras

Can't see any fungus in mine ... yet .. but lots of grime and dust. I'll try to clean it up tomorrow.
The Minolta wouldn't wind on or fire when it first arrived although I managed to free it up with...

Re: Vintage film cameras

Cheers. Looks like free postage too which makes it even better. Will need to check the website on the 23rd.
I bought only my 2nd camera of the year last week. Another SRT101 but only because it...

Re: Floppy clutch lever?

Maybe a longshot Geo but the only other variable that changed was the oil. Same type as before? What's the level?
You could try losing a little bit of oil or dropping it to minimum on the gauge, see...

Re: Vintage film cameras

I've been happy with mine too. Still plenty of life in the front so I'm planning to put another one on the back.

Re: Vintage film cameras

You keep it or pass it on Matt. I have a couple of SRTs and have a battered 303 up for sale on ebay at the moment.
I'm trying to thin down a little too. I've got rid of a few cameras and extra...

Re: A proper haven

I've tried to avoid the coverage as much as possible but out of a historical/ceremonial interest I watched the proclamation this morning. Did anyone else notice that Chazza looked somewhat frail and...

Re: Rain, thunder and lightning.

Talking about thread titles, as the posts on here are more about the lightning, shouldn't it be "Rain, thunder, and lightning"?

Re: Vintage film cameras

Baby Speed Graphic .. another camera that I had to do an internet search for. Nice results. Seems like it's got a pretty good lens.

Re: Vintage film cameras

Got 4 sets of scans back today. I used Filmdev in Stockton on Tees. Just up the road from me although it took Royal Mail 4 days to cover the 24 miles distance. Taking into account postage out,...

Re: Vintage film cameras

Finished the film in the K1000. I was in a hurry and out of inspiration so put a close up filter on a 135 and went out into the garden for some flower pics.
Posted off 4 films for processing.

Re: Vintage film cameras

They are much nicer. I had a look at a KX last year, not working unfortunately. Lacking the old man eyes split image focus though.

Re: Vintage film cameras

The two world wars seem to have impacted on film production quite a bit. A gap of about 12 years following both wars before there's any new advances in film tecnology.

Re: Vintage film cameras

I went out for a hike down the coast today and took the K1000 with me. It's chunkier than the MX, wind on is not as smooth and the shutter noisier. MX is silkier to use but as Kenzie says, the K1000...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?

Scottish B roads. First time on the B709 in two years and in places it's still a pothole and gravel slalom.
Ditto the 6318. It's OK heading north from Gilsland but as soon as it crosses the B6357...

Re: Vintage film cameras

I haven't tried the Shanghai 35mm. It was on my list to buy next time in China, which sadly never happened.
I decided to try out the K1000 and decide whether it's worth keeping or not. Loaded it...

Re: Vintage film cameras

Don't know whether the contrast is due to the development, the film or both. I'm just happy they came out OK. I wasn't sure what to expect.
I can move on to the next camera in the queue now.
