I 'bent' my R&G when I had my off in April - forced into the kerb at about 30mph by a white van
If the bung was the same width all the way down then it wouldn't have bent quite so much - on the other hand it might have snapped off like yours
I guess it depends on a number of factors as to whether it bends or snaps
Give Steve Jordans (in Great Bookham nr Boxhill) a call or Lamba (in Carshalton) if you need parts
If you can get a new lever, there will always be someone at Soho who can help you change it
As an aside, where were you doing the bikessafe course ?
I did mine out of the Ace cafe, and felt that the 'instructors' there almost had a book running between each other as to whether they would loose anybody - one of them had had 3 people go down at the same place
