Got peed off trying to commute into the centre of Cambridge every day (or worse still, trying to commute back out again) by car. Got the bike.
Then moved to a job just 3 miles away from home, but kept the bike for the occasional hoon (that lasted 5 years)
Changed job to one with a company car and loads of driving, hated it, hated every minute of it, still hate it, still spit in the direction of the company, and their client. Fortunately I was slow in selling the bike. I got the job in September and the plan was that I should wait to sell the SV in the Spring. Got laid off just after the New Year.
Now the bike the ONLY way to commute into London. I tried driving in the the previous employers car for 3 months (whilst they were slow in reclaiming their property and fuel card) the journey was too unpredictable - anything from 35 minutes to 2 hours by car - the bike is always 32 - 42 minutes.

I always get to work relaxed and never get home cross with work, like I used to in Cambridge - it takes too much concentration when you are filtering on the motorway to be pre-occupied by work
