OK, first thing - get yourself a subscription to 'Two Wheels Only' magazine - it's much better than 'Bike'. More balanced, generally more informative and personally I find it a better all round read.
As for the vernacular - you could possibly invest in seeing three movies other than the aforementioned Mary Poppins
- namely Sean of the Dead, Dog Soldiers and Sexy Beast (if only to see 'Ghandi' swearing!
).
Mix and match from those three and a recognisable British turn of phrase is assured.
