I've enjoyed every rideout, all of them organised through the forum, and I haven't had me knee down yet (well not without other bits).
If we can get more people on the rideouts then they just happily spread out with the faster ones stopping to let the slower ones catch up, if they don't catch up anyway for one reason or another. I don't think anyone here wouldn't want you on a rideout because of what you describe, or more importantly they wouldn't pressure you to keep up or do anything you didn't want to do. There has always been a great marker system so that no one gets left behind (i.e someone at the front stops to direct everyone else at a junction - then they can make their way to the front again if they want).
So I really think you would enjoy any rideout.
