Ouch. Sorry to hear this. Get onto the insurer ASAP and go to town with the details, include absolutely everything you think is relevent, that way you'll lose less time with them writing to you to ask for more info it. Once the case is underway, chase them regularly (every week, every 2 weeks at the max). If you don't they will just sit on it for months at a time doing nothing.
