My current fave is (advance aplogies for spelling) Bunnahaban from Islay. Now, I think Bowmore tastes of smoked ham (yes I am odd) and Ardbeg is too Iodine-ey for me. Bunahaben is just the smoothest I have found.
Then again (prepare to seeth with jealousy) my Dad's Dad was a distillery inspector for the 'Revenue and when he shuffle of this mortal coil, we unearthed over 200 bottles of malt in his celllar! The party still hasn't ended despite this being over 14 years ago!
If anyone has heard of the "silent stills" range of whisky ( product from old, out of production distilleries ) my Dad, brother and I have shared many an eveing raising a glass of obscure spirit to my Grandpa from places I can't even find on the map.
Happy memories
