MS DOS is a crap operating system. Crap. Its that simple. It has a good user interface making it easy to use namely "Windows"; but that doesn't stop the OS being rubbish.
Its this bleeding GUI install that Ubuntu have just come out with, that seems a bit buggy. It is a mistake that they are pushing it so hard, and calling the ordinary one "alternative", but its the way it is.
When John gets a kernel loaded, and X started, he will have not only an unquestionably far superior operating system running, he will have a pretty nice GUI running that will allow him to use a huge amount of this OS off the bat too. |
Rubbish. Each Os has its bonuses. I've used and continue to use both for there most appropriate tasks. For the average home user Windows is the way to go for software and ease of use. Few "average people" can justify the extra complexity of Linux. For help on Windows he probably knows enough or perhaps has a "mate". For help on Linux he has to ask a bunch of techies on the internet.
I hate this OS argument. No one is willing to back down on the "mine is better" crap.
IMO if he cant get on with Linux or get it installed, its not appropriate.
