I was going to ask you the same question... I test rode a GS and absolutely hated it... It was very vibey, and the performance was not what I'd hoped. The VFR in comparison was lovely and smooth and just wanted to get up and go. Strange this is, I really wanted to like the GS, I quite fancied one at the time. It just goes to show that people do find different things either excite them of switch them off with a bike.
What I will say is that the GS was comfortable (apart from the vibes), the seating position was good, clocks are placed in a very good position, and the tank range is good.... Can't get on with those indicators though
