I recently invested in a Series IV 19mm Almax with Squire padlock. As has been mentioned, this thing is a beast and is fairly heavy (my 1.5m chain and lock weighs in at approx. 11kgs, but i'm a big strong lad!!)
I keep the chain in my oxford humpback tankbag (in it's normal size, not extended upwards) when not in use, Ok it's more weight I have to lug around on the bike meaning less economy, but hey, i've got a bloody good chain/lock imho.
As people have also said, if some cnut wants your bike, they're gonna' have it. YOU CAN ONLY SLOW THEM DOWN! But if they want it, i'm going to make the f***ers work for it.
I still use the alarmed oxford monster disc lock on the front (Cheers Luke, hows the Yamaha btw?) purely for the alarm factor, coupled with the Datatool alarm I have on it as well. The cover goes on the bike regardless of the weather, as anyone atempting to remove it will trigger the alarm.
Do your research, but I reckon you won't find a better chain/lock combo for the money. But, if you can't afford it, i've also have from a good source that 3 cheaper chains are better than a larger chain costing the same in total (as has also been said!)
