Hmmm, prices seem to be on the way up again. I paid £4800 last September for my CBR600RR 05 with 1,500 miles on the clock, 7 months tax, £300 worth of Acumen security and the balance of the 2 year warranty.
What swung it for me with the Honda was the service intervals. You're right, valves at 16,000 but oil change services are every 8000 (Although I'm treating mine to an interim service and new rubber at 4300 miles this week).
As a comparitor there's an 03 with 7000 on the clock here for £3,795

By the way, by all accounts the upside downs on the 05> models apparently make bugger all difference to handling over the well sorted standard forks on the earlier models.
The only mod I've found I needed tomake was to change the standard screen for an Airflow type. The only negative is there's bugger all space under the pillion seat (I can just fit a puncture repair and inflation kit).
