Default Re: Ram air.

It's been done, but I'm a skeptic Someone out there makes a carbon airbox for the SV with a front facing intake, but I've never seen numbers. One of the SVRider guys, throttlecrazed, rigged a ram air/cold air duct on his and a lambda sensor in the exhaust, and reckoned it gave noticable results on the fuelling curve- which should mean, when jetted, a bit of a boost...

But how do you jet a carbed bike for a speed sensitive boost? You could jet it rich up top but then it'll be baggy at low speeds and high revs. Most folks reckon ram air only really takes off once you get towards double figures, and that's even with megabudget r&d. And pressurising the airbox could actually impair the carb action, since they vent into the box rather than having seperate vents...

But, at the end of the day I only know the questions, I don't know the answers I reckon you'd have to have one seriously developed SV for it to become worth looking at in preference to more conventional tuning...
