If you slam your brakes on for no reason (eg, if someone is tailgaiting you) and they go into the back of you, it's
you who is commiting the offence of dangerous driving & causing an accident.
The above (slamming brakes on) is one thing that makes my blood boil. Surely it's better to slow down steadily, without touching the brakes. That way, if they see, they slam the brakes on because they're closer than they thought & it wakes them up (and/or someone runs into the back of them). You could also demonstrate a phone sign to them when they start flashing at you for going 10mph in a 40 zone with no chance of them overtaking.
