I have fitted one to my Pointy without a relay and without extending the wires and without changing the comnnector.
Just plug & play
£10 from Halfords. Used the same mounting bracket but moved it outside to the left side radiator guard.

I've only fitted one, not 2 so maybe that's why I have & hopefully will continue to get away w/out a relay and it's plenty loud enough to save me the bother.
