Yep engine braking will catch you out the first time you shut the throttle in first (which will likely be about 50 yards down the road), as said, you get used to it soon enough
As for accessories, a big can of chain lube (or a scottoiler if you're likely going to be doing mega distances), and, unfortunately, crash bungs are a wise first accessory
Make sure your gear's sorted, get all squishy bits covered, you don't need to blow a small fortune on this, just get everything covered first.
