That's quite an ingenious solution.

I am not terribly keen on modifying the screen or bike. At least that is my default mental position. I think I perhaps need to try and change that attitude a bit, as it's not as if mine is factory fresh and in mint condition.

Making the holes larger risks weakening the screen. Modifing the inside plastic risks making the original fit poorly if replaced. But I'm wondering about slimming down the profile of the inner lug (those ribs) combined with a light modification of the screen? Arguably the worst of both worlds. Guess I need to get the screen off for a decent look and measure up. I have at least found my hobby drill now.
