Mate, some good advice has been offered here, it's not just a case of "bolt new things on", I would strongly recomend someone looks over the bike. Many of these things may not need replacing, just adjusting and checking. A day's help from someone who knows what they're doing will be worth it for the piece of mind as well as the bike feeling better.

Changing fork oil, and brake pads is not hard, but it's a bit of a step up if you're not used to working on the bike at all. The potential is there for you to make a mistake and cost yourself a chunk of money or get hurt. I for one don't learn all that well from books, but if I'm shown something I tend to remember it. Once you've done a few things yourself you'll find your confidence builds up but if you try to put all this lot right on your own I'd imagine it could be frustratingly difficult.
