That's why you document stuff and only deal with facts. It's not about wasting time - it's more sort of using time constructively and achieving something that you can always build on.
Life isn't a problem to be solved - it's a mystery to be explored. Why not have fun doing it?

Ah - but that's half the fun!! I discovered a couple of Great great great uncles or whatever they were, ended up being shipped to Australia for tax evasion. They were glove makers in the Oxford area. We all love a juicy scandal
You never know - you might uncover something nice, as opposed to something horrible.
I've also communicated with 'cousins' in the US, as well as some in West Rainton, Durham (they had some good photos of my Nan which neither me nor my mum had seen before).
