In hindsight I agree with you Northwind, it would be silly to give him hundreds of points and fines that he quite possibly couldn't pay, I was in a slight rage in my first post.

But, as he is employed, can afford a moped/scooter and insure it etc, then why shouldn't he have to pay the full cost of his crimes, even if it was by installments that took a year to pay off etc, a couple of grand isn't a great deal of money.

I guess the biggest thing that annoyed me is how lightly he got off.
And that's the problem, as his fine/punishment etc was so light, where is the deterrent for future crimes of this nature, people like this need to be made an example of for this very reason.

One point that I didn't include in my first post is that he is currently employed as a mechanic, not that i've anything againsed mechanics (I used to be one).
Just that if he has a job/income then he should pay the full cost of his fines.
