For my 2-penneth worth, it does seem strange that they wont write it off.

The only thing I would be careful of is, as the bike was so new, and carefully cared for by you, you want to make sure that there are NO scratches to the frame or engine cases which the assessor may have thought weren't caused by the accident. I.e. you dont want to get the bike back with a new front end, tank etc, only to find that they didnt replace the engine covers because they assumed that the damage was present before the accident.

You have probably thought of that, and I hope you are on the mend...
