just out of interest did he do his cbt on a geared 125 rather than a twist and go / 50cc bike cause if he didnt i dont think that his cbt will cover him for riding a 125 with gears. Also if he has only been riding scooters he will need time to get used to a clutch as not being able to slip it is whats going to do him in on the uturn. Personally id see if he can get a 1 or 2 hour lesson rather than book a whole day and see what the instructor has to say about his riding and to make sure that he is comfortable on a geared 125 as thats whats he going to be taking he test on and thats a lot different to ride than a twist and go scooter.
Other than that tips would be dont rush, dont filter and check your mirrors at every sign and make sure you do all your lifesavers obviously.
