A mate of mine who i went riding quite regularly with last year has just bought himself a 1200GS. He's been out and about on it quite a bit over the last 3 weeks, particularly going off road and taking on some green lanes/tracks.

I've been itching for a green laner for some time (about 2 years) and would love to have a bike to complement the SV. I did set a budget of about £1200 but figure that that might not buy me much so may stretch a little further (not too much or I'll be into SV trade in territory).

Seen a '95 BMW F650 with 32k on for only £850 but not so sure whether its good to take off road. Alternatively I keep on looking for DR350s and DRZ400s but think I might get left behind on the road. THere also doesnt seem to be many under £1800.

Anyone throw some light on this? I know theres a few on here who are into getting dirty on the trail so share some knowledge with me.
