Yep, I think there's a basically solid point buried until the idiocy... The article reads much like the writing of someone who's had something explained to him and thinks it's a great idea, but either didn't entirely get it, or lacks the ability to pass the message on.

We all get told on our CBT to watch for cars opening doors, not to overtake past junctions, etc- that's all the same idea, proactively protect yourself rather than depending on other people doing it right. Just not taken to the same daft extreme.
