Default Sticky throttle

I searched around and found a couple of threads about this but I didn't want to bump a dead thread to ask my question:

My throttle's getting progressively stiffer and harder to open (leading to some serious wrist pain when riding) although it shuts off okay. It was like this when I bought the bike so I got the garage to give the throttle a one-over when they fitted the 33bhp restrictors and they just oiled the cables, which fixed the problem. A few weeks later and it's getting stiff again, so I'm wondering what's going on because it's only been 100 miles between freeing the throttle up and it going stiff again.

Going through the old threads, it looks like the throttle cables may well need to be replaced as they could be wearing, which is why oiling them only temporarily fixes the problem. How difficult is it to replace the cables? Would you recommend a Haynes or a Clymer manual as a guide to doing this?

Bike's a K1 2001 SV650S.
