The guy was in this country because his wife works for the benefit of the country as a nurse. She has a baby and the NHS reward her by killing her with incompetence. Now the government wants to kick him and the child born here out.

It strikes me as just too convenient that the guy is entitled to bring a damage claim against the NHS, for the death of his wife, upbringing of the child and to some degree as she was the bread winner in that household his financial future as well. Be a bit difficult for him to pursue a claim from the Philippines.

There have been a lot with a lesser moral case to stay been allowed. I think this is purely for convenience of the system.


I also think it amazing that there is not a system of connections that would make it impossible for a drug designed for epidural to be administered in any other manner. A bit like aircraft where plugs/sockets can only ever fit to one connection.

1st let me point you to the story about the aircraft gas connectors that were changed, allowing Nitrogen to be used where it should have been Oxygen

For ten months, crews have been filling airliner oxygen systems from a nitrogen cart that's supposed to be used to fill tires. The mistake went unnoticed until a couple of weeks ago when an observant aircraft engineer spotted service workers using the cart. "He was walking around the plane and asked what they were doing. When they said they were topping up the oxygen, he said, 'No you're not, that's a nitrogen cart,'" an unnamed source told *The Age*.
As anyone who works with industrial gases knows, oxygen tanks have different fittings than other gases to prevent exactly this kind of mix-up. However, when the crews discovered the fittings on what they thought was their new oxygen cart didn't fit, they swapped them for the ones on the old cart they were retiring. Of course, Australian officials are looking into the error and Qantas has been busy notifying other airlines that use its services in Melbourne. Hundreds of aircraft may be affected."

So there goes that idea.

Yes I think it is a tragic mistake, but the death of the guys wife and the Immigration issue are two completely separate issues.

Both need to be dealt with separately but correctly.

Permission to stay should NOT be part of some kind of compensation package.
