I don't really need it for anything - more reference/proving a point! When I first saw this pic, I thought the flowers were computer generated. There is something about vibrant red on green that gives the illusion of a matte line (look at the contrast between the base of the petals and the grass) but it's completely real!
At the moment, I'm working a film which has a lot of CG red flowers on green vines and they just look a little odd and I just want to point out to people, you see the same things we are seeing in our CG, in real life.
