No, it is not normal. Take the tank off/lift it up, take the top of the airbox off. You can then see the 'butterfly' valves in the carbs, twiddle the throttle and see if they seem to be sticking on the way back. There should be no discernable gap when the throttle is off .... if there is you have a sticky throttle cable ...
