Spannering q, oil filter torque etc
Doing my own stuff now and just did an oil change amongst other things.
Now the sump drain bolt and the oil filter got me a bit troubled. Bolt torque is 23 then 32 and filter is 11-ish. But for both I found I could torque them up, get the click but then they would shift on again, then another click then turn ab bit more again etc. So getting tighter and tighter. I guess this is due to the crush washer and the filter gasket.
Anyway in the end I just did them 'so tight' and hopefully not overtight.
Whats the knack here? I probably should have stopped at the first click but the washer and gasket will bed wont they, or would they have bedded at the first click? I dont want to mess with it now otherwise to replace the plug will involve draining the oil and just slacking it will cause a leak now the washer is crushed wont it? I didnt do it 'real tight'.
Just want to get it right next time.
