I'll be running my race bike up to speed at the weekend on track. It now has modded original forks (racetech gold valves, Ohlins .80 springs and 20wt oil), EBC Pro Lite race discs and EBC HH pads in the original calipers.

I've raced older bikes with single piston brakes and they were more than up to the job of racing. If the brakes are in good servicable condition they should be easily good enough.

From experience on a previous bike (FZR400 race bike) the brakes were as good as I could get them but it was the forks that made the biggest difference. Once I'd added gold valves and done the forks, the brakes felt much more useable, you could safely brake much harder than before.
