Once you have taken them out, put them in a cup of hot water.
Go back to the bike and take out the 2 screws and then the old screen.
Position the new screen (making sure you do not fold the spongey type strips)
Put the 2 screwws back in (loosely)
Get the rubber bits out of the, now warm, water and re fit them. They go back to their original shape after being in the water for a few minutes so go back in easy.
Then just refit the allen bolts. Job done.

So are you guys talking about the OEM bungs that have an extra "bulge" in them. I can understand the straight bungs, the type you get with aftermarket bolts, doing what you discribe but I'm sure there is no way that bulge is gonna disappear with some hot water oooeer.
