Just another aside, did you mention Euro breakdown and accident recovery? Just wondered what happens if a chain snaps, a puncture occurs or worse.

Not wishing to be a Miserable G!t, but considering the length of time you'll be out riding I would say yes. Nowt difficult about group riding or foreign roads, especially with the others to show you, but it's a long day and from experience I know how peeps get tired, not just from the physical side but the stress too, and that's when accidents can happen. Get a few long day rideouts under your belt and then go for it.
