It definately sounds like it's running on one cylinder, be that because of water or another reason.

I used to commute many many miles a month, and never had a problem with water. Then one day it started happening.
As well as water, it could be HT lead breakdown (which you can take the HT lead apart, chop the end off, then put it back together to cure), or it could be the ECU not giving the timing signal properly (which will require a new ECU).
Chances are, it's water though. Solved either by a fender extender, or some grease. For anyone near me, I still have a rather large tub of grease that I'll happily slap over anyone's front plug.
